AIMfg was featured at the Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) 2024, held from 14–16 October at Singapore EXPO.
Centred around the theme “AI-Powered Next-Gen Manufacturing”, the event showcased how artificial intelligence, sustainability, and advanced technologies are reshaping the manufacturing sector into one that is smarter, greener, and more connected.
During his Innovation Stage talk, Dr Wang Wei, Centre Director of AIMfg, shared how AI is transforming manufacturing processes. He highlighted the importance of safe experimentation, domain-specific integration, collaboration with ecosystem partners, and continuous workforce upskilling, principles that guide AIMfg’s mission to accelerate AI adoption across the industry.
The event also marked the launch of several national initiatives to support future-ready manufacturing. Guest-of-Honour Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat outlined three priorities: advancing R&D in areas such as AI and battery technologies, translating innovation into practical industry solutions, and preparing the workforce to harness emerging technologies.
One such initiative is the Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Innovation, launched by Enterprise Singapore in partnership with ASTAR and Singapore’s polytechnics. It provides a platform for companies to collaborate and co-develop new products and solutions. Another major launch was the Singapore Workforce Institute of Future Transformation (SWIFT), a joint effort by ASTAR, SkillsFuture Singapore, and the Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy to equip talent with AI-ready skills.
In a panel on AI standards, Dr Ng Huey Yuen, Coordinating Director of R&D at A*STAR’s Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), emphasised the importance of global frameworks like ISO 42001 in guiding responsible AI adoption across manufacturing.
From innovation showcases at the A*STAR booth to thought leadership sessions by AIMfg and partners, ITAP 2024 brought together global stakeholders committed to shaping the next chapter of industrial transformation, and AIMfg was proud to be at the forefront.
